Palm Springs Art Museum houses breathtaking exhibits and installations featuring artists from all over the world. With a large permanent collection complimented by seasonal exhibits, there is always something fresh to discover as you wander the 150,000 square foot building. Here is a sneak peek into the gallery, and some information to help you plan your visit!
Where is it
There are three art museums under the Palm Springs Art Museum umbrella, including one in Palm Desert. The flagship building is located in downtown Palm Springs at 101 Museum Drive Palm Springs, CA.
The second is the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center, located at 300 S Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.
The Palm Desert location resides near the famous shopping street, El Paseo, at 72-567 Highway 111, Palm Desert. Make a day of it by shopping, grabbing lunch and exploring the art museum (that is free every day thanks to the generosity of Helene V. Galen!)
Tickets
Palm Springs Art Museum has free admission the second Sunday of each month. It also has free admission every Thursday evening from 4-8 pm, thanks to the City of Palm Springs. Outside of these hours, admission is $14/adult, $11/senior, $6/students. The Architecture and Design Centre is $5 to enter.
Exhibitions
While there are many permanent exhibits, there are also seasonal exhibits that are carefully curated and selected by the talented museum staff. For a list of current exhibitions, click here.
Things to know
No backpacks, food or drinks. Photography is allowed but selfie-sticks and tripods are banned. Allow for a few hours to explore. We visited before lunch and underestimated how much time we would need!
Here are a few of my favorite exhibits from our visit! Enjoy!
We visit Palm Springs every year around Valentine’s Day and I make it a point to go to PSAM. The city and its surrounding communities are filed with art. I love the desert landscape. Thank you for sharing.
