Grab your ladies, a couple (100) swimsuits, and get ready for sunshine and all the rum punch. It’s time for a Turks and Caicos girls trip! Turks and Caicos is one of the best destinations for a girls weekend or weeklong getaway as the sun is always shining, the drinks are flowing, and it’s home to the best beach in the world.
Where to Stay in Turks and Caicos
Beaches
Club Med
Alexandra
Wymara
One of the nicest resorts in Turks and Caicos. They have an amazing spa, pools and beach access.
How to get around Turks & Caicos
Rent a Car
Taxies are few and far between in Turks and Caicos, and the locals drive a little, errr, sporadically. I’d highly recommend renting a car and taking turns as the designated driver. This will allow you to visit different beaches and explore the entire island.
Scooters and mopeds
There are a few scooter rental places in town that you can rent mopeds and tour around the island. Companies also offer tours if you prefer to see the island with locals. Paradise scooters has amazing reviews.
Taxi
If you plan on just staying put at the resort, there are plenty of taxis parked at the airport. Be sure to ask for the cost before you start the ride, and confirm that the quoted rate is for your entire party, and not per person.
Bicycles
If you’re not comfortable on motorized scooters, you can rent bikes by the day from places like Caicos Cyclery.
Ya, don’t put me down for cardio
If you’d like to work out during your Turks and Caicos girls trip, there are a few spots I’d recommend checking out. Take advantage of the insanely beautiful water or hit the studio for some air-conditioned yoga or HIIT workout.
Workout Classes in Turks and Caicos
Retreat Yoga
The best yoga studio on the island. There are a variety of classes to choose from, and there is a great café next door.
Crossing Place Trail
Turks and Caicos isn’t known for it’s hiking, but the Crossing Place Trail is a beautiful scenic trail that starts at a few different locations, including Conch Bar Village. Bring water and runners!
Glow Fitness
For more yoga and boot camp style fitness classes, including fitness training on the beach.
Afternoon Paddleboarding and Kayaking
Turks and Caicos is the perfect place for watersports because the water is crystal clear and sprawls for miles. You can explore the mangroves where you’ll spot sharks and turtles, or simply paddle out to sea and back for a workout. There are tours, but I think you could probably handle it on your own at your own pace. Big Blue Collective offers 2-hour tours of the mangroves if you’re interested in learning more about the climate and eco-systems.
First we have the coffee, then we do the things
Lemon 2 Go
This quaint coffee shop has great smoothies and fresh food. The shop shares space with an amazing florist and gift store. It’s the perfect place to pick up a souvenir to celebrate your Turks and Caicos girls trip!
Retreat Kitchen
The vegetarian & vegan café attached to the yoga studio I mentioned earlier! Serving delicious bulletproof coffee, smoothies, juices, and vegetarian lunch.
Cause it’s 11:30 and the girls be brunchin’, brunchin’
Time to fuel up on mimosas and food before you hit the beach! Your girls getaway to Turks should involve a visit to at least one of these brunch spots.
Shay Cafe
Sit outside with a smoothie, coffee and breakfast goodies, including fresh crêpes or croissant breakfast sandwiches.
Crust Bakery
Ah-mazing pastries, and an assortment of your typical brunch items like omelets, french toast, and eggs benny.
Kalooki’s Restaurant
Carribean/Jamaican style brunch featuring items like chicken and waffles and guava mimosas. Such a beautiful location with insta-worthy decor!
Spa Experiences in Turks and Caicos
Can’t have a Turks and Caicos girls weekend without a little spa action! Some hotels offer spa treatments, so find out if yours has a spa on-site. If not, these are some great options:
Regent Palms Spa
Treatments like hydra facials, scrubs and restorative massages located in the luxury Palms hotel. Stay for a drink at 72°WEST
Wymara
Organic facials, over 10 different types of massages, and body wraps.
Spa Tropique
If you rent a villa and want to stay put, Spa Tropique offers at-home treatments! Make some margaritas and enjoy spa treatments with the girls.
Things to Do in Turks and Caicos
Get out on the Water
Wake to Wake Boat
We chartered a boat for 6 hours with Wake to Wake and it was one of the best travel days I’ve ever had. We started by exploring the canals and jumping off the abandoned shipwreck located about 2 miles from Long Bay Beach. From there we cruised, drinking local I-Ain-Gon-Lie beers and taking turns wake surfing, tubing and trying out the subwing. I would highly recommend booking a day with these guys cruising around! You can choose what activities you’d like to do or simply island hop. A popular spot is Little Water Cay (Aka Iguana Island) where you’re almost guaranteed to spot the endangered Turks and Caicos Rock Iguana.
Explore the Abandoned Shipwreck
In 2004, Hurricane Frances dragged this freighter ship 12 miles by its anchor to where it now remains firmly planted in the waters off Long Bay Beach. It would cost a considerable amount of money to move it back, and seeing as it wasn’t in the best condition to begin with, they decided to keep it there. It has become one of the biggest tourist attractions on the island. If you go alone, make sure you bring proper water shoes as the ship is pretty gnarly and rusty. No one needs an emergency tetanus shot while on a girls trip.
Grab some wine + SPF: Turks Beach Day with the girls
Beach day at Taylor Bay
Despite homes dotted along the shoreline, Taylor Bay is a public beach and accessible to everyone. Park on the side of the road and make your way down the dirt path until you arrive at this beautiful crescent bay. At low tide, you can walk for miles out to sea and still be no more than waist-deep. Bring some wine and a few lawn chairs and relax, enjoying a quieter pace than Grace Bay.
Pro Tip: Head to Las Breezes for lunch before heading to Taylor Bay. Beautiful views and great food. Not cheap, but worth it for a great meal with a picture-perfect view.
Beach Day at Grace Bay
There is a reason Grace Bay was voted #1 beach in the world in 2018. Butterlike white sand, turquoise water, the absence of the behemoth resorts and vendors you see in Mexico and Hawaii. It’s the perfect place to spend the day. That’s why you’re here right?
Do as the locals do
Afternoon touring Turks Head Brewing
Explore the Brewery on a tour and try some of the local beer. There most popular beer, I-Ain-Gon-Lie, is a crisp lager that pairs beautifully with toes in the sand and Kenny Chesney humming in the background.
Thursday Night Fish Fry
Head down to the local fish fry for authentic local cuisine, STRONG rum punch, live music and entertainment, and local vendors. It really seems like everyone on the island migrates over to this weekly event (and stumbles home apres after one too many rum punches out of a pineapple). This will be a nice change of pace if you want to add a fun party night into your Turks and Caicos girls trip.
Hungry late night? Head to local favorite Turk’s Kebab after the fish fry!
Did somebody say Happy Hour?
While every hour is happy hour in Turks and Caicos, they sure know how to make the most of the late afternoon as the sunsets. Here is a list of my favorite happy hour spots in Turks for you and your girls to sip and people watch!
Somewhere Bar
Straight out of a Jimmy Buffet song. The perfect sunset spot to order margaritas and Mexican food! Service may be a tadddd slow, but that’s just the island way, so keep the drinks flowing, enjoy some tex-mex cuisine and live music and watch the sun go down.
THE SHORE CLUB
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of Grace Bay and head to Long Bay Beach. Sip happy hour beverages at this picturesque hotel bar or have dinner at Sui-Ren, an eclectic Japanese restaurant infused with Peruvian style cuisine.
Girls Dinner in Turks and Caicos
CAICOS CAFE
Sit under the stars soaking up fresh bread with oil and vinegar followed by a large plate of pasta on this deck-style Italian restaurant. They have a lovely selection of fine wines here, and the portions are huge!
BELLA LUNA
If you’re looking for another chance to curb the Italian food craving, Bella Luna is a local fav for pizza and pasta (served in a pretty courtyard).
COCO BISTRO
One of the best meals of the trip! We ate here on our last night sharing a few bottles of red and chatting about the week. I ordered the Blackened Mahi with Red Curry sauce and it was sensational. Make a reservation for the patio and eat amidst the largest palm grove on the island!
PROVENCE
The best restaurant on the island. Save this one for a special evening that you want to celebrate with the girls and enjoy amazing french cuisine.
Aprés Dinner Drinks
INFINITI BAR AT GRACE BAY RESORT
We came here for happy hour and to catch the sunset as it is located right on Grace Bay beach. This spot really turns up around dinner time, so come around then to mingle with fellow travelers.
The Deck at Seven Stars Resort
Grab an island-inspired cocktail here, listen to the waves and stargaze.
Danny Buoy’s
An Irish pub with nightly events like karaoke, country night and NFL Mondays. A fun spot to come after the Thursday fish fry!
72” West
Because it isn’t really a girls trip until you have a heart-to-heart over cocktails around a fire pit in a few lounge chairs.
I hope this inspires you to start planning your girls trip to Turks and Caicos. It is truly a magical island. If you have any further questions, reach out to me on Instagram!
