While Tofino is known for world class surfing, wildlife and outdoor activities, it is also home to some incredible restaurants led by world-renowned chefs. Due to it’s temperate rainforest and proximity to the pacific ocean, most ingredients are locally sourced and sustainable. Below I have outlined the best places to eat in Tofino BC, broken down by meal. Bon Appétit!
Tofino Coffee Shops
Rhino Coffee
With all day breakfast, wraps, donuts and delicious coffee, you can pick something up to go or stay awhile and relax. They offer online ordering, so you can skip the line and get a head start on your day!
Tofitian Coffee
This is a great little cafe just outside of the town of Tofino with an array of baked goods and fresh coffee. This is a perfect spot to get some work done or relax before or after a surf. Try the vegetable scone! Tofitian is in the same complex as Tacofino, so you can work for a bit and reward yourself with a fish taco (or head next door to Chocolate Tofino for a Lavender truffle. Thank me later.)
Common Loaf Bake Shop
Great vegan treats, baked goods and hot drinks! Cute café tucked away in town near Sobo. Perfect for a rainy afternoon!
Best Brunch in Tofino
The Pointe Restaurant at Wickannish Inn
A staple in Tofino, the Wickannish Inn has been around since 1955. It is located right on Chesterman Beach, an ideal location to storm-watch, surf, walk or ride bikes along the Pacific. Grab brunch with a view and then walk it off on the beach. A few favourites: mimosas (obvs), mushroom toast, and the crepes.
Long Beach Lodge
Located on Cox Bay, Long Beach Lodge is a favourite for breakfast and brunch. Make sure you head down to the beach afterwards to watch the surfers (and if you’re like my sister, hunt for your future husband, manbun required =P)
Lunch Spots in Tofino
Tacofino
A lot of Vancouver locals don’t realize that the famous Tacofino restaurants began with just a single food truck in Tofino. While you are almost guaranteed to encounter a line, it is 100% worth the wait! I have eaten at the Tacofino restaurants a number of times, but the food at this OG food truck is on another level. Wash your food down with a lime mint freshie or mexican soda.
Shed
The Shed is a great place to chill on the patio, have a beer (I love the Shed Lager x Tofino Brewing with a splash of clamato) and a few snacks while watching the people go by.
Sobo
Award winning Tofino restaurant with something on the menu for everyone. My go to is the mushroom pizza and a few share plates. Great for dinner too!
Best places to eat Dinner in Tofino
Wolf in the Fog
When it comes to the best places to eat in Tofino BC, Wolf in the Fog has a comfortable place at the top of the list. Arguably the most popular restaurant in Tofino, Wolf in the Fog has received accolades for its delicious and diverse menu offerings. Order a bunch of items and share. Compliment it with a few craft cocktails and roll yourself out of there a few hours later, happy and ready for hibernation.
Shelter
Shelter reminded me of a rustic Cactus Club. Chill on the patio around the firepits in the summer, or get cozy inside by the fire, ordering a bucket of mussels and a side of housemade bread in the cooler months (pretty much all year in Tofino. Bring some warm sweaters ;-)).
1909 Restaurant
A new addition to Tofino, 1909 is starting to grab the attention of locals and wanderers stopping in for a weekend getaway. Ingredients are sourced and foraged straight from Tofino’s oceans and forests. Meals are plated so artistically you’re going to have to be that person and take a picture of your food. Not even mad about it.
Schooner
For all the seafood your heart desires. A bit of an older crowd, but delicious and very popular.
Take out option: Basic Goodness Pizza
Grab a pizza to go and head to the beach for sunset! Authentic Naples style pizza without the plane ticket.
Happy Hour in Tofino
Kuma Sushi
Japanese comfort food with a side of sake. Grilled rice balls pictured above. Still don’t know how I feel about them, but give them a try for yourself! The ramens, udons and share plates are all very popular!
Wolf in The Fog
Wolf in the Fog also has a great happy hour menu, but I prefer going for dinner to get the full experience! Make sure you make a reservation at least a week in advance!
The Hatch
Good place to grab a beer on the water!
