2020, the year we all stayed home. This year, the holidays look a little different and that includes how and what we plan to gift our loved ones.
Here is a list of the best gifts for people that work from home, which seems to be most of us these days. And yes, yoga pants made the list.
Comfort
Cozy Robe
I’ve had this for years and it is still so soft. The hood gives that added cozy factor. Great to throw on before morning coffee to get the day started.
Lululemon Align Pants
*The* work from home staple. These pants feel like they are made with butter. So soft!! Also, love that they are high waisted. The ultimate work attire and a great gift for anyone that works from home or is constantly on the go. The “I want to live in sweatpants and feel slightly put together at the same time” pant.
Caffiene
Nespresso Machine
Who knew we would be making this much coffee at home in 2020? I’ve never been one to make an entire pot of coffee for myself but also didn’t love the quality and taste of the Keurig pods. Enter, Nespresso. This coffee is incredible, and I love that I can make frothy, delicious lattes at home. Great gift for a coffee lover that wants convenience without compromise.
Matcha and Matcha Kit
Loved one not a big coffee drinker? Matcha is a great alternative and a lovely gift to pair with a little kit to help them establish a morning routine.
Double Insulated Mug
Anyone else unable to sip coffee fast enough, so you just leave a third of it cold in the cup? There is nothing worse than microwaved coffee. Enter, the double insulated mug. This keeps coffee hot longer which makes it an especially great gift for working parents.
Gift card for a Local Coffee Shop Near Them
Sometimes it just feels good to take a walk and grab a cup of coffee. Source out a funky coffee shop in their area as an alternative to the standard Starbucks GC.
Set the mood
Diffuser + Essential Oils
This is my favourite gift on this list because it’s something I use every day at home. A diffuser can make any space smell fresh, clean, and inviting. Diffusers and essential oils have been a key player in cultivating my creativity at home while working. This combination makes for a great gift for someone working from home.
Diptyque Candle
Lighting a candle in your space in the late afternoon, especially in the fall and winter when the sun goes down early can provide that extra bit of motivation to continue tackling your to-do list. These Diptyque candles make great gifts for people that work from home as they are something many wouldn’t necessarily purchase for themselves.
Sonos Speaker
Working from home means no buzz of the office surrounding you. A spotify playlist and a good speaker can make all the difference. We have had Sonos in our home for over a year now and it is one of the best purchases we have made. Pair this gift with a music subscription to Apple Music or Spotify Premium if they don’t have one already.
Live Plant with a Nice Plant Holder
Live plants can really refresh a home office. Snake plants are notorious for being low maintenance for those that don’t exactly have a green thumb. Here is a list of the best plants for air quality that would make great gifts!
Flower Subscription Service
Google “monthly flower subscriptions” in your area. You could gift three months of fresh flowers to someone to brighten up their home office. If you live in Vancouver, I love the sustainable flower company Bloomier.
Hydrate
Sodastream
Hello zero waste soda water. I love using a Sodastream throughout the day to meet my water intake goals. I add a few drops of bitters in there for digestion benefits. If you’re looking for more eco-friendly gifts, check out this post on environmentally-friendly gift ideas!
Reusable Water Bottle
Your loved one will appreciate the straw on these reusable water bottles.
Office
Notebooks
Notebooks are great for anyone that works from home to jot down notes, random thoughts, or to-do lists. Without coworkers and bosses emailing you deadline reminders it’s nice to have a few books to keep you motivated and on task. Working from home can also be pretty stressful, so I love writing in journals in the morning to start my day off on the write foot. See what I did there? 😉
Standing Desk
Have you heard that sitting is the new smoking? If you’re looking for a gift that will help with posture but don’t want to break the bank, this standing desk on Amazon has great reviews. Make sure the height of the desk matches up with the height of your loved one before purchasing!
Office Chair
I recently polled my Insta followers for their favorite ergonomic chairs. Here are three options. The Herman Miller Aeron chair was recommended multiple times but it is the priciest of the bunch.
$$$$: Herman Miller Aeron Chair. $$: Branch Furniture Office Chair $: Ikea Ergonomic Chair
Roomba
One of the hardest things about working from home is constantly being reminded of all the chores around the house. A roomba checks one of these off the list.
Gift certificate to a home cleaning service
Working from a clean workspace has been proven to increase productivity. Give the gift of a clean “office” to someone who works from home.
Self Care
Yoga Mat
Pair it with some yoga blocks and a subscription to the Down Dog app. Perfect lunchtime workout at home.
Massage Gift Certificate
No matter how hard they try, people that work from home tend to end up working from the couch (or bed) some days. Help out the kinks with a GC to a spa nearby.
Classpass Membership
I don’t think I could have survived the last few years of entrepreneurship without a solid exercise routine. Classpass is great because you can try multiple studios. I love mixing yoga, spin, HIIT and barre classes into my schedule. Click here to get $40 off! They can cancel anytime, so a 3-month gift to try it out would be awesome!
Headspace Membership
Meditation has helped my productivity immensely. Headspace or Calm are two great apps that offer paid memberships and access to hundreds of guided meditations.
Nourish
Meal Prep Subscription
Hello Fresh or Fresh Prep to make their lunches or dinner at home
A Good Blender for morning smoothies or Juices
My parents bought us a Vitamix a few years ago and I use it almost every single day! Ninja’s are a great option too.
Inspire
Tribe of Mentors Book
This is a great book if the person working from home is an entrepreneur or working on a side business. One of my go-to book recommendations and one you can easily pick up when you’re in a funk.
I hope this helps you with some ideas for gifts for people that work from home! xx
